Turning its back on the street, this home (2022, in development) engages the unbuildable hillside to the south, welcoming the southern light filtered through the trees and framing views of the flora. Designed with efficiency and economy in mind, the simple form is punctuated by glazed portals that provide interior spaces with varied daylighting to suit the function of each space. The house was conceived as a low-cost, single family dwelling that would be prefabricated and erected quickly on site with a crane, reducing the need for expensive local labor.
